Gameweek 15: Top three players of the week, Barclays Premier League

1)      Luis Suarez:

Surprise, Surprise! The Liverpool star has been in tremendous touch this year and the forward continued his dream run with another great display against the Hammers. The Uruguay international has been at the helm of everything good for Liverpool as he once again popped up with a goal and two assists to his name. The 25 year old was the talisman for Liverpool as he performed those crafty little flicks and rran rings round the West ham defence with his nimble footed dribbles past the defenders.
Suarez and controversy can’t stay away from each other. It was Suarez who forced the own goal from the West Ham defender Guy Demel who couldn’t get out of the way of a powerful shot. Suarez then guided the ball into the net with a thumping header at the near post from a brilliant cross from Johnson. Suarez once again tried a long ranger which bounced off O’Brien’s back and made its way into the net.

Suarez tried a whopping 9 shots in total from the 70 odd touches he made in the match. His work-rate in the final third was brilliant as posed a constant threat for the Hammer’s defence.

2)      Andre Schurrle
A lot of eyebrows were raised when Chelsea decided to buy the German for a lot of money from Schalke this summer. The Blues have a host of attacking midfielders at their disposal and the Germany international has hardly got any game time for the Blues this season. He made it into the starting eleven owing to the busy December schedule but he didn’t let anyone down. He scored two goals as Chelsea were overwhelmed by a Stoke side which have a habit to punch above their weights in crucial fixtures.
He started the scoring for the West London club as he dribbled past a Stoke defender before slotting the ball into the low left corner with a firm finish. He then equalized for the Blues with a thumping finish just outside the box. The Germany International was then substituted at the 70th minute for Samuel Eto’o.

This substitution arguably cost the Blues the match and this might just prove to be a huge dent in their Title aspirations.

3)      Laurent Koscielny
The Gunners were held to a draw at the Emirates but if anyone on the Arsenal team sheet deserved to win, it was Koscielny. The Frenchman did incredibly well in restricting Lukaku’s movement and neutralized almost every Everton attack. It was another top notch performance from the centre-back who is soon developing into one of the best defenders in the Premier League. The France International has been the unsung hero of Arsenal this season with flamboyant players like Ramsey and Ozil hogging all the limelight.

He even threatened the Everton defence with his aerial abilities and looked notorious during set-plays. Defenders need to be acknowledged when they play well and therefore, Laurent makes it at number three in the list.
